Bunker Mentality

« Big in Japan: Bunker Mentality featured in sports drink ad starring Ryo Ishikawa »

It was recently brought to Chapeau Noir's attention that Bunker Mentality, the somewhat cheeky UK-based golf apparel brand, has been featured in a Japanese television commercial promoting Aquarius, a sports drink belonging to The Coca-Cola Company.

The commercial stars home grown Japanese sport stars Ryo Ishikawa (golf), Keisuke Honda (soccer), and Kosuke Kitajima (swimming).

Not being terribly familiar with Japanese sport personalities, save for Ryo Ishikawa, it took a bit of digging to figure out who's who, but once educated, the essence of the commercial breaks through the language barrier. Ishikawa, Honda, and Kitajima (wearing Bunker Mentality's Club House 11) are each out of their core element, exchanging sports and enjoying the experience.

Creating an emotional reaction is paramount in advertising, and Aquarius chose to associate itself with just the right brand in Bunker Mentality, reflecting the ethos, or feeling they wanted to convey.

What's great about Bunker Mentality and what suits them so well to be featured in this ad is their ability to inject fun, enjoyment, and attitude into an eclectic apparel line that marries classic style with modern, youthful influence.
