« Quagmire Golf refreshing Arnold Palmer apparel »
New, decidedly more youthful Arnie branding, by Quagmire Golf. This being Bay Hill week and all, Chapeau Noir thought it appropriate to revisit an interesting bit of news that came across the teletype machine late last week, when news came that Toronto-based Quagmire Golf scored a nice win with a pending redesign of the iconic Arnold Palmer apparel line.
On the surface one might be puzzled by this match between a youthful "chilled lifestyle brand" and an iconic, established brand, but this is the kind of forward thinking mature brands who have perhaps seen better days, need to do undertake in order to once again become relevant to a younger demographic.
Aside from having the decency to lend a hand to the Arnold Palmer apparel line ;) it's important not to overlook the boost this deal will give Quagmire Golf in the golf apparel landscape. For a four year old company, Quagmire Golf is starting to make a name for itself in 2011 with the buzz surrounding their super funky ColorFusion line and now, this:
"Word is that the new collection will be a "cool, Arnie Palmer retro line," according to an executive familiar with the arrangement, with designs based on what Palmer wore back in the 50s, 60s and 70s -- authentic, with a modern twist."

Cool and retro is always welcome, and Chapeau Noir is thinking an new Arnie label conjures visions of what the cast of Mad Men would wear to the country club on Saturdays and Sundays.
Consider yourself inspired.
