« Suspenders with belt requires ruling »
Last week, prior to the start of the Hyundai Tournament of Champions at Kapalua, Bubba Watson (Travis Mathew) sported a pair of suspenders during a long drive competition.
On their own, a pair of suspenders on the golf course is one thing, but when paired with a belt, becomes quite another. From a purely aesthetic perspective, there's nothing necessarily wrong with the look, but functionally, the purpose of both accessories is the same -- to prevent ones trousers from falling down around ones ankles.
Which brings us to Chapeau Noir's ruling on the matter at hand, and in this case Bubba, you can't have your cake and eat it too. It's the suspenders or the belt, one or the other. Not both. When you do choose, choose the belt and save the suspenders for your guest appearance on The New Yankee Workshop. Norm will love 'em.
Chapeau Noir isn't sure if Travis Mathew is offering suspenders as an alternate accessory for 2011, but if they are, Larry King, Mork and that guy from thirtysomething will surely be first in line.
