« Chapeau Noir's 'State Of The Blog' Address »
It's time for a bit of a state of the blog address, and there's quite a bit of ground to cover, starting with Chapeau Noir making a couple of appearances in 'mainstream' media outlets in the past week.
First up, Chapeau Noir lent his opinions on the state of golf fashion to Alice Wyllie of the Edinburgh Scotsman (scotsman.com), as previously documented on CNG. Next, Chapeau Noir was fortunate to be included alongside 59belts.com head man Trevor Derreheim in the cheekily titled article 'A Flash In The Pants' (PDF) in the August edition of South Africa's Compleat Golfer magazine.
Happily, these appearances have lead to something very big for Chapeau Noir, something that is sure to please the loyal readership, and will lead to more Chapeau Noir content goodness in the coming weeks.
While details of the news is not quite ready to share - only for fear of tempting the golf writing gods - let it be known that recognition beyond what could have been hoped for has been realized, and new publication avenues are now as wide as the combined first and 18th fairways at St Andrews.
The combined width of the first and 18th fairway of the Old Course at St Andrews is approximately 100 yards, equalling the enormity of an opportunity recently presented to CNG.Heaven help me if I hook it OB. Consider yourself officially teased. Stay tuned for an official announcement.
CNG Ticker: New arrivals in the CNG apparel hopper this week include a brilliant pair of Ecco Casual Cool II Premier shoes, in sparkling white with silver and black trim. The arrival of the Ecco's could not have been timed better, as Chapeau Noir's white and black Nike's developed a displaced sole this past weekend, not unlike the displaced Nike soul of another sort that was in full view at this past weekend's Open Championship ... Also new in the tickle trunk are a sweet and supple pair of golf pants from Fila's new golf range, the Oslo ... Reviews of both the Ecco's and the Fila trousers coming soon! ... Chapeau Noir spent a weekend in Montreal with Mrs. Chapeau Noir, as the Chapeau Noir junior set was sent off to the farthest reaches of Northern Quebec to fend for themselves amongst the moose. (Before you dispatch child protective services, they were actually off having a great time with their Grandmother.) Undocumented in the weekend shopping update was the purchase of a new J Lindeberg Slater belt, which could not be resisted during a lengthy weather delay at the fabulous Club de golf Le Fontainebleau, host of the 2004 Telus Skins Game and the 2010 Champions Tour Montreal Championship, which was evidently of and for champions ... hey, what ever happened to Hank Kuehne? That guy had a serious style quotient, Chapeau Noir hopes he is well... hey Facebook people, click the 'Like' link below if you're diggin' Chapeau Noir, even if your Facebook peeps couldn't care less what you like, it's just good times!
