John Daly may have been a triumph on the links in round one at the 2010 British Open Championship, but he was an unmitigated disaster on the catwalk.

It's one thing to go with a wildly patterned trouser (Pazeltine-A from Loudmouth Golf), but it is yet another to mix in additional pastels that in no way compliment the focal point of one's ensemble. The pastel blue sweater vest (from adidas Golf), didn't nearly pick up the turquoise found in the trouser pattern, and the peach shirt can only be excused by wet AMD, or some other eye-related malady.
Last but not least, how about that hat?!
Is it supposed to match the sweater vest, the trousers, or neither? It comes closest to picking up a bit of the turquoise in the trouser, but it's not quite there. If Loudmouth is to be taken seriously as a golf clothier, it should get it's scripting act together, at least for The Open. If not, the brand will be relegated to frat boy and stag party novelty item status within the calendar year - if it hasn't been already.
Here's hoping JD continues his fine play, because somewhere, Charles Nelson Reilly is smiling.
CNG Ticker: In defense of Daly, there was quite a bit of pastel to be found at the Old Course on Thursday, led by German Marcel Siem, whom ABC's Mike Tirico referred to as 'low ponytail' - and El Gato in fuschia, who we think may have missed doing up the bottom button on his plackard (it bugged me all morning)... What the hell is Steve Marino's headcover supposed to be? Anyone? ... This dude, 19 year-old Seung-Yul Noh of South Korea is in Daly's group again tomorrow, making Chapeau Noir thankful that 3D TV isn't yet as widespread as HD, for vertigo would surely ensue ... Here is this week's gratuitous Rock shot, confirming that the Bridger now officially bests the Slater, though the Miami is pure class ... Happy he's well tucked, though oddly, it's not an issue on this summer's edition of The Big Break with which I have the least bit of concern.
