CNG In The Press

Chapeau Noir has provided insight on golf fashion trends in the following publications:

Edinburgh Scotsman - July 14, 2010 - Dressed to a tee: Fashion at the Open, By Alice Wyllie

"It's generally accepted that if you look good, you feel good - which can then translate into playing better golf," he says.

Compleat Golfer (South Africa) - August 2010 - A Flash In The Pants

"When choosing your belt buckle, feel free to express your personality, but be honest with yourself in regard to your personal dimensions. Gents a dessert or two over 36 inches in the waist should try to avoid larger-scale buckles... there's no need to draw attention to an already prominent area."

« Villegas Wins, Post Writes Itself. »

If Camilo Villegas, winner of the 2010 Honda Classic at PGA National in Florida, and Ian Poulter, winner two weeks ago at the WGC Accenture Match Play keep up this pace, Chapeau Noir will either be spoiled beyond the point of golf fashion bliss or will begin looking for loose threads in a desperate attempt to deconstruct any real or perceived flaw in either of these two bookends - bookends who have become the gold standard by which all others are measured here at CNG.

Other than by height, of course.

Villegas wears J. Lindeberg, and has wisely replaced his Castro cap with a fitted baseball style cap. This, mixed with Camilo's tighter lettuce gives him a more mature look, a look reflected in his game so far in 2010.

Chapeau Noir would love to see Villegas go with a more understated look around the waist, but the custom Red Bull sponsorship-driven oversized buckle from House of Fleming isn't likely going anywhere soon.

For insight into how Camilo is able to stay cool under pressure, check out the video below.
