CNG In The Press

Chapeau Noir has provided insight on golf fashion trends in the following publications:

Edinburgh Scotsman - July 14, 2010 - Dressed to a tee: Fashion at the Open, By Alice Wyllie

"It's generally accepted that if you look good, you feel good - which can then translate into playing better golf," he says.

Compleat Golfer (South Africa) - August 2010 - A Flash In The Pants

"When choosing your belt buckle, feel free to express your personality, but be honest with yourself in regard to your personal dimensions. Gents a dessert or two over 36 inches in the waist should try to avoid larger-scale buckles... there's no need to draw attention to an already prominent area."

« It's All In The Details »

Chapeau Noir has been thinking a lot about those things that really make a difference when it comes to an article of clothing. The features that make us look forward to wearing that item again, soon.

It is no coincidence that our favorite things are most often the items in which we feel most comfortable - but why?

As my good friend Robert at Bunker Mentality says,

"It's all in the details!"

Take for example your favorite pair of golf trousers - the pair that you find yourself wearing for occasions other than golf, the pair you ensure are hung to dry and are never tumbled, the pair with the front pockets that make it easy for you to retrieve your tee or ball mark, the pair with the deep back pocket that comfortably fits your scorecard and course guide without fraying their edges.

Broken Star Trousers in grey check from Bunker Mentality. The pair.

They're the pair with the rise between the waist and your seat that doesn't induce a nasty case of the sweats (aka 'the faucet', or 'wettus') at the slightest sign of humidity, the pair that repels early morning dew and fresh grass clippings.

The pair that does all of this, and gosh darnit, they look fantastic no matter how often you wear them.

It may be a technical shirt that fits you just so, for the cut through the shoulders lends itself particularly well to your frame. The sleeves may hug your arms in such a way that you're wife actually thinks you look buff, and the shirt doesn't smell like your shoe after your round.

But perhaps it is even more simple than that - perhaps that shirt just seems to stay neatly tucked no matter how much you flail at the ball.

Whatever item it is for you, savour that favorite, and see if you can't find another pair on the internet, post haste! Failing that, always stay on the lookout for what's next, because you never know which item is destined to become your next all-time favorite.
