Undressing golf's dress code

March 24, 2012 -- The most iconic golf style photograph I can think of is one of Sean Connery, circa 1962, sporting a driving cap, and a vibrant red jumper paired with turned up denim, with a golf bag slung with style over his right shoulder.

Some quick notes from rounds one and two of the Arnold Palmer Invitational at the Bay Hill Club and Lodge...

Jason Gore in Loudmouth, round two at the Arnold Palmer Invitational. (David Cannon/Getty Images North America)Jason Gore is the latest to go to the Loudmouth Golf fraternity, as witnessed by the checkerboard Pole Position trousers on Friday.

What is it with big dudes wearing Loudmouth?

Does it say something about the demographic or is the Daly / Gore tag team combination just a size coincidence. Before you go telling us that John Daly is a flatbelly, take time out to watch Daly's reality show on Golf Channel (if you can bear it). Better yet, let's wait a year or two before we judge.

Steve Elkington, after being given preferential treatment to gain an exemption to the tournament from PGA Tour commissioner Tim Finchem, withdrew from competition part way through the second round due to a migraine, likely brought on by the brown and beige triangular polo from his Leave It To Beaver Collection.

Browse the best set of Arnold Palmer Invitational photo galleries you will find anywhere over at Robertmatre.com. Matre is at Bay Hill working for our friends at waggleroom.com. You will be hard pressed to find a finer eye for the game than Matre. He also happens to be sartorially gifted as well.

Henrick Stenson in Hugo Boss. (Photo by David Cannon/Getty Images North America)Henrik Stenson kept his clothes on long enough to show off his  totally Boss green and blue check trousers on Friday, which followed up a black and white geometric sweater vest that scrambled brains on Thursday.

How awesome is Ryo Ishikawa?

Dude won the Order of Merit on the Japanese Tour at age 17, and now at 18 leads the PGA Tour style quotient index.

Time to step your game up Poulter!
