CNG In The Press

Chapeau Noir has provided insight on golf fashion trends in the following publications:

Edinburgh Scotsman - July 14, 2010 - Dressed to a tee: Fashion at the Open, By Alice Wyllie

"It's generally accepted that if you look good, you feel good - which can then translate into playing better golf," he says.

Compleat Golfer (South Africa) - August 2010 - A Flash In The Pants

"When choosing your belt buckle, feel free to express your personality, but be honest with yourself in regard to your personal dimensions. Gents a dessert or two over 36 inches in the waist should try to avoid larger-scale buckles... there's no need to draw attention to an already prominent area."

« CA Championship Observations - Round One »

For your admiration and amusement, a couple of quick observations from day one at the CA Championship at Doral in Miami.

Steve Stricker | Peter Millar

First, let us take a moment to admire the luxury of Peter Millar. Seen here on Steve Stricker, Peter Millar clothing is a traditional country club offering that should be part of any golfer's wardrobe. One cannot help but admire just how perfect this collar is on Stricker. Butter!

Ian Poulter | IJP Design | FootJoy

Next, it's time to give Ian Poulter more run here on CNG, <sarcasm> because honestly, the guy doesn't get near the fashion props he deserves. </sarcasm>

Photographer Scott Halleran knows what Chapeau Noir wants, and delivers. Poulter's stunning array of FootJoy Icons and IJP Design clothing make us wonder if we have ever seen the same outfit twice.

We know to whom these shoes and trousers belong immediately, a testament to the brand Ian Poulter has so quickly built. (Photo by Scott Halleran/Getty Images North America)

Sergio Garcia | Adidas

CNG is sorry to report that Sergio broke out the track pants again yesterday...

Yuta Ikeda | Unknown

Finally, let us consider the curious wardrobe case Yuta Ikeda of Japan. Apparently a bit of an apparel free spirit, Ikeda wears his hat askew and his heavily pleated waistband rather high for such a young man. Chapeau Noir can't make heads of tails of this one, so we will have to chalk it up to something that is just Lost In Translation.

Dude, what's up with those pleats? Yuta Ikeda of Japan appears to be calling his own trousers into question in this altered photo, compiled from two images taken during the first round of the CA Championship. (Photo by Marc Serota/Getty Images North America)
