CNG In The Press

Chapeau Noir has provided insight on golf fashion trends in the following publications:

Edinburgh Scotsman - July 14, 2010 - Dressed to a tee: Fashion at the Open, By Alice Wyllie

"It's generally accepted that if you look good, you feel good - which can then translate into playing better golf," he says.

Compleat Golfer (South Africa) - August 2010 - A Flash In The Pants

"When choosing your belt buckle, feel free to express your personality, but be honest with yourself in regard to your personal dimensions. Gents a dessert or two over 36 inches in the waist should try to avoid larger-scale buckles... there's no need to draw attention to an already prominent area."

« Apparel Free Agent Ogilvy Chooses Travis Mathew, For Now »

Geoff Ogilvy wore the Travis Mathew I-Recline polo during the first round of the SBS Championship on January 7, 2010. (Photo Getty Images)Geoff Ogilvy, recent of Puma and now an apparel free agent aside from his glove and shoes, wore Travis Mathew apparel during round one of the SBS Championship yesterday in Hawaii.

Ogilvy wore a white Travis Mathew I-Recline polo and paired it with a pair of black trousers of which Chapeau Noir is not 100 percent sure of the origin. After all, Ogilvy is a free agent and may have mixed and matched designers, as most of us are wont to do.

To speculate, the trousers could be Travis Mathew, perhaps the Searslack. Last night's broadcast of the SBS on Golf Channel may have given us the necessary hint we require, as Chapeau Noir did notice an angled stripe detail on the pocket that should eventually tell the tale. Unfortunately it's tough to tell from the Searslack product shot.

It's important to reiterate that TM does not yet count Ogilvy among its official representatives. It's a great compliment to Travis Mathew that he isn't.

Note the MarquisJet wordmark on the right sleeve. Chapeau Noir doubts that the Ogilvy is having his polos embroided one by one, so it is fair to conclude that Travis Mathew may be a longer term favorite for the SBS defending champion, formal contract in hand or not.

Bottom line is that the move away from Puma to Travis Mathew or elsewhere is a definite style upgrade for Ogilvy.
