« Style Inspiration From The Penfold Heart »
The Penfold Heart.Chapeau Noir recently ran across a link to the Penfold company, ressurected in 2008 and popularized in pop culture in the classic James Bond movie Goldfinger, when Bond politely yet definitively exposes Goldfinger's penchant for dishonesty, that apparently extended to the links.
James Bond: [discovers Goldfinger cheating at golf] You play a Slazenger 1, don't you?
Auric Goldfinger: Yes, why?
James Bond: This is a Slazenger 7. [indicating Goldfinger's golf ball]
James Bond: Here's my Penfold Hearts. You must have played the wrong ball somewhere on the 18th fairway. We are playing strict rules, so I'm afraid you lose the hole and the match. [Goldfinger throws the golf ball to the ground in disgust]
Chapeau Noir loves how Penfold packaged their golf balls, individually wrapping each and every ball in its own foil. In addition to the Hearts, Penfold also offered the Ace, Diamond, Club, and Spade.
Chapeau Noir goes beyond the Penfold, and looks to Sean Connery as the ultimate Bond in Goldfinger for his timeless style from which we all can, and should, draw inspiration.
Sean Connery as James Bond in Goldfinger, calling in to question the ball in play. Kindly note Bond's hat.
While the plus four will remain a novelty, Chapeau Noir would like to see the return to prevalence of the lace protection flap.
