« mickelson: tour championship win, big. shiny pants win, bigger. »
Phil Mickelson finds a bit of redemption during a difficult year by winning today's final Fedex Cup event. at the Tour Championship at Southern Hills in Atlanta, Georgia.
Big ups to Phil, but aside from the solid play, the big story here on Chapeau Noir Golf has to be the sweet shiny black pants Phil was sporting during the Sunday round.
A definite sheen in Phil's trousers could be detected from many of the camera angles supplied by NBC during Sunday's broadcast, but only the photo at right 'reflects' this impression effectively. Hopefully more photos will be unearthed in the coming day or two.
Could this be a preview of the new Callaway line from Perry Ellis, which was announced just recently?
Admittedly, Phil has been looking more stylish than he has in years, probably the best he has looked since his Hugo Boss days.
I'll be sure to monitor the Callaway / Perry Ellis / Phil Mickelson wardrobe situation closely in the coming months to see what changes are in store.

I did some digging on Perry Ellis to find out that Perry Ellis International Inc. counts among its subsidiaries Munsingwear and Original Penguin by Munsingwear.
Perry Ellis International Inc. also counts PING and PGA TOUR golf apparel amongst its lineup, as PING and PGA TOUR are third party licensed trademarks made under the Perry Ellis umbrella.
Here's hoping the Phil Mickelson and other Callaway staff members are spared the look sported by current PING staff member Kevin Sutherland.
Not that there is anything terribly wrong with what Kevin looks like on course (he could wear one size smaller a shirt so as not to look too much like an unmade bed), but I think Perry Ellis could really make a statement in 2010.
Here's hoping they do!

This just in from my new golf style blog pal, The Khaki Crusader:
"Just a quick FYI - Phil doesn't mess with Perry Ellis/Callaway clothing. He has all his stuff custom made. His shirts are Q'aja bespoke polos and his pants, crazy enough, are Tom Ford."
(Note that some Tom Ford imagery may be of the 'not safe for work' (NSFW) variety.
Awesome stuff - many thanks to The Khaki Crusader for bringing this to our attention!
