« Awesome Administaff Golf Bobbleheads Are Awesome »
Arnold Palmer bobblehead, given away Thursday at the 2009 Administaff for Small Business Classic (Melanie Hauser / PGATOUR.com via Twitpic)The stop this week on the Champions Tour is the Administaff Small Business Classic presented by UnitedHealthcare, at The Woodlands in Texas.
As everything is bigger in Texas, the Administaff Small Business Classic, heretofore known as the Administaff, is giving away a different bobblehead to the first 1,000 fans each day, from Thursday to Sunday.
As if that weren't enough, everyone gets in free.
FREE!
EVERYONE!
Not just kids under 12 accompanied by an adult, not just super seniors, not just those with a peg leg and an eye patch, EVERYONE! Did I mention FREE?
Anyway, back to the bobbleheads.
Thursday was Arnold Palmer bobblehead day. Chapeau Noir is impressed by the iconic apparel the Palmer bobble is wearing.
Cardigan? Check.
Requisite stiff-collared shirt? Check.
The only disappointment is the lack of an obvious umbrella logo, but that could be chalked up to lighting. If absent, Chapeau Noir will let it slide.
Friday was Tom Watson bobblehead day.
Here's where Chapeau Noir really gets excited, as the Watson bobble
Tom Watson bobblehead, given away Friday at the 2009 Administaff for Small Business Classic (Melanie Hauser / PGATOUR.com via Twitpic)wears the signature blue cashmere sweater, and tops it off with details like the Polo logo on the left breast, and the Polo word mark on the right shoulder, along with the Adams Golf hat and ever-present smile.
Apparently the Watson bobble shows a distinct gap toothed grin much like real-life Tom, which unfortunately isn't evident in the photo, but if true, it gives Tom the edge in the 'look-a-like' department.
On deck for Saturday is Craig Stadler, followed on Sunday by two-time Administaff winner Bernhard Langer.
Chapeau Noir is particularly looking forward to the more rotund of the two remaining bobbleheads, and will update this post as soon as pictures become available.
If you happen to be attending the Administaff tomorrow and or Sunday, be sure to get there early, and send Chapeau Noir a photo of you and your new bobblehead!

Craig Stadler bobblehead (Melanie Hauser / PGATOUR.com via Twitpic)As promised, courtesy Melanie Hauser of PGATOUR.com, here are the Craig Stadler and Bernhard Langer bobbleheads, here are the Saturday and Sunday giveaways at the Administaff!
Bobblehead Stadler looks positively positive, one might say downright happy, with the results of his swing. Though more than an amiable chap, the expression is quite odd!
While Stadler's attire would never a make any fashion critic's top ten, Stadler is comfortable in his own skin, famously rediscovering his game when he put weight back on after going on a 'health kick' in the 1990s.
Missing from Craig's shirt is his "Walrus" logo, though that is a fairly new addition to his wardrobe. The HP cap is bang on, as are the flat front trousers, a somewhat surprising choice for Craig.
The Bernhard Langer bobblehead, holding his two Administaff trophies, brings with it more on the apparel front on which to discuss.
As evidenced by the "B" logo on the Bernard bobblehead, Langer is is a long-time Bogner man.
Bernhard Langer bobblehead (Melanie Hauser / PGATOUR.com via Twitpic)Bogner, a high-end German sportswear manufacturer hasn't had much of a profile in North America, but they have made some inroads into that market in the past few years, though not with their golf wear line. Here's hoping that changes.
To illustrate just how far back Bernhard and Bogner go back, the Bernhard Langer section on the Bogner site provides a fashion retrospective of sorts, proudly displaying some bold color blocking, along with some fantastic sleeves.
In a promotional video on the Bogner site, Bernhard talks about the importance of what you wear on the golf course, and how it should make you feel.
"If you want to be successful, you have to dress accordingly, as to the colors and the fabric, you have to feel well dressed. Then you can give the maximum."
Chapeau Noir wholeheartedly agrees! Well said Bernhard, well said.
