« Presidents Cup Apparel Wrap Up (because it's cold) »
Yet another Presidents Cup has passed without generating much in the way of drama between the ropes, or interest beyond Harding Park in San Francisco and the harder core golf fan. The lack of drama extended its dark cape over what could have been an impressive weekend apparel lineup, especially for the International side.
But,
Galvin Green - International Presidents Cup team outerwear supplierdespite the lack of a complete reveal on either side, we can take away a few tidbits on the apparel front.
- One highlight, which I neglected to mention in previous posts, was the difference in the shirt sleeves worn by International team member Camilo Villegas and the rest of his teammates. Camilo favors, for obvious reasons, tighter and shorter sleeve cuts.
- Earlier this week, Camilo went with a military style cap, and then on Sunday, a more mainstream cap. Sadly for Camilo, his good looks and high style quotient were the only things he had going for him this week.
- Justin Leonard showed us how a proper golf trouser should look, (with a one and a quarter inch golf slit to boot).
- In previous posts I have prattled on about how good Team USA looked in their Sun Mountain outerwear. Greg Norman's Internationals should get props for teaming up with a well respected company from Sweden, noted for its outerwear. Without further adieu, here's Mike Weir on Sunday, in Galvin Green.
- Is it just me, or does it look like Fred Couples was wearing two Sun Mountain RainFlex jackets? Either it was really cold, or the RainFlex needs some Coldflex.
- I wasn't a big fan of the red hat worn by the Americans on Friday, but they did look better when they didn't try incorporate the full American flag motif.
- Tiger Woods had his revenge on Y.E. Yang on Sunday. Take a good look, because this is the last you will see of him in non-Nike gear for a good long while, especially if Nike decides to extend its brand reach into the team event arena at the 2010 Ryder Cup. I'm not saying they are, but with a TaylorMade / Adidas man at the helm in Corey Pavin, they'd have to do some fancy footwork.
- One would think that with all the attention to scripting detail that went on this week, someone would have thought to have the players change out of their golf shoes for the presentation ceremony, though it appears that a few who did have time to change, made curious sneaker choices.
Lets hope that Royal Melbourne in 2011 warms things up enough to allow the players to show their full team colors and styles.
